Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 Gets OTT Release Window

Bollywood's comedy franchise Housefull returned to the big screen with its fifth installment on June 6. Headlined by Akshay Kumar, the film reported an opening day collection of Rs 24 crore, marking a record for a non-holiday comedy release in India.
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 5 marks Mansukhani's return to direction after more than a decade. The film was released with two versions—Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B—each offering a distinct ending. This dual-ending strategy contributed to audience curiosity and drove up theatre footfalls.
Streaming rights for Housefull 5 have been secured by Amazon Prime Video. While an exact release date has not been disclosed, industry sources suggest the OTT premiere may occur between July 18 and August 1.
Set on a cruise ship, the film centers on a billionaire planning to name his heir on his 100th birthday. However, his sudden death leads to three individuals—Jalabuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), Jalbhushan (Abhishek Bachchan), and Julius (Akshay Kumar)—each asserting they are "Jolly," the rightful successor. The storyline unfolds through a sequence of comedic events and mistaken identities.
The cast includes Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Chitrangda Singh, Jackie Shroff, Fardeen Khan, and Nana Patekar.
